The Haytor Hotel

Our Covid-19 Secure Plan

The Haytor Hotel will be open for business from July 4th 2020

Introduction
As you may have heard, Boris Johnson has announced that hotels, restaurants and bars in England may open from July 4th. Therefore, it gives us great pleasure to announce that we will reopen the Haytor Hotel from this date.
Whilst this is exciting news, we want to reassure you that our guest's and staff's safety is our priority.

Bookings
As always, the best rates are available if you book directly through us.
After making your booking if your circumstances change, you or one of your party or household feel unwell, we will of course be happy for you to cancel the booking. If cancellation occurs up to 48 hours before arrival, we will be happy for you to move your booking to a new date this year or next at no extra charge.
Torquay is going to be very busy this summer so we highly recommend that after making your booking, you plan which restaurants you would like to visit and book these in advance to avoid disappointment as they will be running on reduced capacity to allow for social distancing.

Prior to Check-in
48 hours prior to check-in, we will contact you by telephone or email to explain our check-in process and make you aware of our covid-19 secure plan.
We will ask you your approximate arrival time, this is to ensure we only ever have one party checking in at one time. We may ask you to move your check-in time slightly or wait in your car until previous guests have been shown to their room. We can email you our registration form or we are happy to take these details over the phone to ensure we have a paperless check-in. We will also discuss payment options with you. Currently we take payments on departure using our card machine, to reduce the risk, we will ask that you make payment via bank transfer before or during your stay or we can take payment over the phone.

Arrival
We have plenty of parking for all of our guests, once parked, please ring the doorbell. You will find hand sanitiser, gloves and masks in the vestibule. Please use the hand sanitiser when entering or leaving the hotel.
We always offer complimentary tea, coffee and home-made cake on arrival. This will still be served and will happily serve it to your room if requested
You will be given your sanitised room key. We of course will be happy to carry your luggage to your door keeping safe distance. Baggage handles will be sanitised before and after handling.
The Haytor has lots of public spaces but please ensure you keep within the 2 metre social distancing where possible especially on the stairs and corridors.

Rooms in general
We have provided hand sanitiser to all rooms, please use on entering and leaving your room.
Scatter cushions and throws have been removed to make cleaning and sanitizing more effective. All hard surfaces including door handles, hairdryer, heater and remote control etc. have been sanitised before your arrival. Cutlery, crockery and glasses have been washed at high temperature using our commercial dishwasher.
Unfortunately, we have removed our guests information folder, these have been replaced by a disposable welcome letter and some local information. We can email you our guest information book in PDF if you require.

Servicing of rooms
Whilst we endeavour to ensure you have a wonderful and relaxing stay with us, the servicing of occupied rooms will be limited. For guests staying 4 nights or less, we will replace towels, toiletries and complimentary tea trays as required. Please open your window before leaving the room.
Some guests will prefer not to have their rooms serviced. In these circumstances, we will provide an order form for replacement of towels and consumables. These will be left outside your room for you on your return from your day out. Before leaving your room in the morning please place any towels that you would like replaced in the bag provided, please also seal rubbish bags and place outside your door. Glasses, cutlery and crockery can be left on the table outside your door.

Breakfast
Please ensure you sanitise your hands before entering the dining room.
We have increased our breakfast times to two hours 8am to 10am.Breakfast will be served in the dining room, your room or the terrace (weather permitting) To ensure we keep social distancing, we will ask guests to advise us the time they would like to have breakfast.
If you would like your breakfast served to your room, we will ask you to make your menu choices the night before and advise us the time you wish to be served. Breakfast will be left on the table outside your room.
If you have your breakfast on the terrace, the tables and chairs will be sanitised before and after use.
Your dining table will be assigned to you on arrival, this may be moved to different locations in the dining room so that we can maintain maximum social distancing.
Although our amazing buffet will not be on display, you will be provided with a disposable menu and we will serve you from order. The traditional English remains the same, cooked to order. We will serve jams and preserves again from order. All cutlery and condiments will be brought to your table with your breakfast.

Bar
Bar service only. Please ring the bell for attention, this will be sanitised after each use. If we are not available the bar will be closed until our return. All glass-wear has been washed at high temperature in our commercial dishwasher.

Feeling unwell during stay
The below statement is government guidelines which we ask our guests to read.
"If a guest is displaying signs of the Covid-19 virus while staying in overnight accommodation for a permitted reason, they should inform the accommodation provider, immediately self-isolate where they are to minimise any risk of transmission, and request a test. If they are confirmed to have Covid-19, they should return home if they reasonably can. They should use private transport but only drive themselves if they can do so safely. If a guest cannot reasonably return home (for example because they are not well enough to travel or do not have the means to arrange transport), their circumstances should be discussed with an appropriate health care professional and, if necessary, the local authority. Guests should follow government guidance on dealing with possible or confirmed coronavirus (COVID-19) infection. Once the guest has returned to their main residence, they should continue to follow the government guidance on self-isolation, household isolation and social distancing. If the guest cannot return home, the guest will be expected to pay all costs.”

Check-out/Payment
We have a box on our bar, before leaving, please place your key in the box so that we can sanitise.

Restaurants
Although many of the local restaurants are re-opening on July 4th, others will only be open for take-away service. Our dining room will be available for you to consume take-away food. If you require this, please let us know and we will provide crockery and cutlery. This is a complimentary service.
This document has taken us a quite some to write and on reading it back, it sounds very regimented. This has been produced so that we can not only ensure your safety but our lovely staff’s safety too. Safety has to come first, however, as hoteliers we love the company of our guests and our number one aim is to make sure you have a fabulous break with us.

If you have any further questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact us.

Thank you for choosing The Haytor

Best wishes,
John and Jane
